⚠️ Laser Attacks on Aircraft - A Serious Criminal Offence ✈️ |

|
Dear Resident,
We have received several recent reports of aircraft approaching and landing at RAF Northolt having lasers directed at them from someone believed to be local to the area. Shining a laser at an aircraft is not a harmless prank. Laser beams can dazzle, distract, or temporarily impair a pilot's vision during critical stages of flight, including landing, potentially putting passengers, crew and people on the ground at risk. The offence does not require an aircraft to be endangered; simply dazzling or distracting, or being likely to dazzle or distract, is enough to commit the offence.
Those responsible can face up to 5 years' imprisonment, an unlimited fine, or both under the Laser Misuse (Vehicles) Act 2018.
We are appealing to residents to be vigilant. If you witness anyone deliberately pointing a laser at an aircraft, please report it immediately. Information can be provided to police via 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
🚫 Think before you shine. A split-second decision could endanger lives, result in a criminal record, and lead to a significant custodial sentence.
